PATIENT

PATIENT

Monika Izing explores what it’s like living with chronic disease inside of medical facilities. She draws from personal experience to create situations in which trauma and treatment were used to aid lupus.

A relationship is built between the patient, the doctors, the nurses, and the equipment used to rebuild what has been afflicted.

Having a chronic illness means a life long battle with your own body; yet a deeper understanding of how your body operates. It also teaches us to be patient as our bodies recover and we find inner strength.

These photographs embody that journey of both defeat and perseverance to find power within those life experiences.
